Location :Ipoh, Perak, Malaysia
Date : 9 November 2018
English synonyms:Abbott's Jungle Babbler, Common Brown Babbler, Abbott's Wren Babbler
Bird Family :Timaliidae - Babblers, Babaxes, Mesia, Leiothrix, Cutias, Barwings, Minlas, Fulvettas, Crociases, Sibias, Yuhinas, Myzornis, Parrotbills & Rhabdornises
Bird Group :PASSERIFORMES
Red Data Status :Least Concern
Remarks :Possible female-male differences: Most literature states that the female and male Abbott's Babbler are similar. Some literature states that the female is smaller in size (see: http://www.planetofbirds.com/passeriformes-pellorneidae-abbotts-babbler-malacocincla-abbotti). Wells 2007 states that the adult female is “separated only by size (mainly on tail length)”. As I was able to distinguish the pair I saw for an extended period (1.5 hrs) based on calls, I’d like to offer some images of presumed males and females based on calls. The female was seen less often than the male.
This is a composite of presumed female (top) and male (below).
