Remarks :Note that the subspecies shown in this image does not occur in the Oriental Region, and the photograph is only posted here pending acquisition of good images of the subspecies exsul, which is only found on Bacan Island, Indonesia.

The male of exsul is larger with entirely slate-grey head, lacking the chestnut-maroon colour of the chin, throat and ear-coverts of the bird in this image.
