Remarks :This is the only known specimen of this species, purchased from a dealer in 1865.

Taxonomic Notes :Presumed extinct.
Known from only one specimen of uncertain provenance, which is held at Naturalis, the Netherlands National Museum of Natural History. The specimen may have originated from one of the larger Sunda Islands: Java, Sumatra or Borneo.
Recent evidence suggests that it may just be a colour morph of Buff-banded Rail Gallirallus philippensis.
