Firdaus Rahman Affandi has been working as a field scientist and conservationist since 2005. Firdaus graduated from the University of Lampung in the Department Of Biology, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Science. His work with biologists and conservation experts has influenced him in his principles, mind and action. He has researched topics related to behavioral ecology, and bird biodiversity conservation. Since graduating, he has assisted with some Biodiversity surveys in Bukit Barisan Selatan National Park (BBSNP), Sumatra, conducted by the Wildlife Conservation Society - Indonesia Program. He has spent much of his time working with community members and fellow conservation professionals government forestry staff, NGO conservationists, and University of Lampung staff to explore innovative ways to conserve wildlife and wildlife habitats. Biodiversity of BBSNP Landscape was the first survey for him, in which he took part in surveys on both birds and mammals. This experience allowed him to see what a field biologist really does. Firdaus is a team leader for WCS-IP in Sumatran Ground-Cuckoo biology and conservation, having led field teams in 2006 for six months of intensive field work to do the survey in Bukit Barisan Selatan National Park, Lampung.
